The cuisine of the East is typified by its contrasts. The utter simplicity of staples such as rice and noodle, partnered and contrasted with the complexity seafood, meat and fresh vegetables, cooked with an apparently endless array of spices and rich sauces that are a playground for the taste-buds. Asian food is not always spicy but always moreish.
